Image Compressor

Your image is compressed right in the browser — it's never uploaded to a server.

About this tool

The Image Compressor reduces the file size of JPG and PNG images so they upload faster, fit email limits and take less storage. Compression happens in your browser, so your photo is never sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Click the upload area (or drag an image onto it) and choose a JPG or PNG file.
  2. Adjust the quality slider. Lower quality gives a smaller file; around 60–80% is usually a good balance for photos.
  3. Compare the original size with the compressed size shown in the results.
  4. Click the download button to save the compressed image.

Tips and limits

Photos with lots of detail usually shrink the most. Images that were already compressed, or simple graphics, may shrink only a little. If the picture looks too soft or blocky, raise the quality and try again.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The image is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded.

Will compression reduce quality?

Yes, lossy compression trades some detail for a smaller file. Use the quality slider to choose how much.

Is there a file limit?

There is no fixed limit on our side, but very large images depend on your device's memory.
